While it's raining
- Water spilling over the edge instead of flowing to the downspout
- A steady drip coming from a seam or joint
- Water running down behind the gutter, against your siding
- A downspout that's barely putting out water
When it's dry
- Gutters that visibly sag or dip in the middle
- Sections pulling away from the roofline
- Rust, cracks, or holes
- Peeling paint or water stains on the siding below
- Dirt trenches or eroded soil below the gutter line
- Standing water or soft ground near the foundation after a storm
One or two of these is worth a look. Several together usually means it's been going on a while.
